The Remembering January 8th Memorial Foundation was created to lead a community effort to develop a permanent memorial to the mass shooting on January 8th, 2011. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was holding a Congress on Your Corner in front of the Safeway at Ina and Oracle Rds. The Congresswoman was gravely wounded. Twelve others were wounded. Six people perished.
